New GPS Voices - Say What?

According to most, The Thomas Guide used to be the apex of car navigation, but GPS and digital-mapping technology have made an evolutionary leap. These navigation systems help you get from point A to point B with audible driving directions, color maps, points of interest, and much more. They were once a novelty tech toy for early adopters and gadget hounds, however, they've gained in popularity and the market is now flooded with them. Last Christmas, GPS devices were the most requested electronic in 2007. There were 34 million units sold in 2007.

Selecting a GPS device that will be the best GPS for you can be a daunting task. There are many selections out there. Usually that means weighing the features you want with what you're willing to spend. In the end, selection is really a personal decision and sometimes you've just got to go with what looks good to you. They're all going to do what they were designed for - keep you from getting lost! Having the best GPS is extremely useful, but there's also something about buying a new shiny toy that plays a role in my decision. Don't buy a GPS device just because it's really cool to have one, but find one that you want to have fun with while it is being useful for you. There are NO subscriptions or monthly fees associated with using a GPS device. When you buy a GPS, you can use it all you want and don't have to pay another dime. Some GPS devices offer options as a Traffic receiver and Bluetooth. The traffic option does require a yearly subscription. The Bluetooth option has no fees. Bluetooth allows you to pair your Bluetooth compatible cell phone with your GPS device, enabling you to call and answer phone calls hands free thru the GPS.

Do you need a GPS device? If you're looking for a help with travel into unfamiliar cities and country roads, a car GPS is great, much better than fiddling with maps. It also helps avoid those disagreements from your backseat driver while trying to navigate to your final destination. With car GPS voices guiding you turn by turn with voice prompts and visual maps, the days of making wrong turns, getting lost and wasting time (and gas!) will finally come to an end. With GPS voices, you and your family can enjoy traveling or make business trips less stressful.

GPS devices aren't just for vacations and business trips....they are just as useful around town. I travel for my work to different stores around the Dallas metro-plex, the one of the most sprawling metro-plexes in the world. I enter the addresses to all my stores, as well as friends across town, restaurants, parks, other businesses, and on and on. Where ever I am, it's nice to know I can always find my way back home just by typing a key.

Car GPS devices already have detailed road maps preloaded on the device. Compare features, including the size of the GPS screen, whether you need Bluetooth or traffic notification features, and what the unit looks like. Once you have the best GPS for you, you can begin to look at GPS software.

With sales of GPS devices reaching a tipping point with over 30% market penetration, a growing segment of the population is seeking additional software/personalization to their GPS devices. The current offerings of GPS voice products on the market are fairly slim, however, there is a new GPS software product out there that has the following criteria, easy to use and install, ability to personalize your electronic device, serves the GPS communities need of the desire to change, compatible with a personal device. Currently in order to buy and use other similar products is A MASSIVLY difficult undertaking for your average user.

GPS navigation voices: The force is strong with this one! Everywhere you turn, someone is telling you where to go--your boss, your mother, spouse, or kids. And these days, an increasing number of drivers are being told where to go by their portable GPS devices. As the novelty of the from-the-factory generic GPS voice wears thin, the electronic navigator can be upgraded to a GPS voice with a bit more personality, like Yoda's, for example.

One site offers a variety of choices for their portable navigation systems. Downloads of various men and women of different nationalities and personalities are available, and you can listen to a sample before you decide. (Choices depend on your country of origin.) Downloadable options include a grandmotherly-sounding voice, or one billed as "The Don." As in, according to the Web site: "He's about to make you an offer you can't refuse and take you for a ride." All righty, then. Either The Don or Granny can be yours for a price, as can the voice of a New York cabbie. Frankly, I'm not too sure about that one. He doesn't sound like he's from New York to me.

The real fun with GPS Voices begins with celebrity impressions for TomTom GPS and Garmin GPS. How'd you like to take marching orders from Arnold the Governator? For a fee, he'll tell you where to go, and so will the omni-present God, some beautiful hot chicks, or George W Bush, who could help you find better gas prices, weapons of mass destruction, or misdirect/direct you where to go.

Teresa Knight is a huge fan of the current GPS technology. Check out her favorite site at pigtones

Overcoming Nerves - In Public Speaking And Entertaining - Part 1

Many people often assume that those of us who stand up to perform or take part in any form of public speaking are not troubled by nerves and that their own attempts would only be doomed to failure because of their feelings of nervousness and fear.

These thoughts only exacerbate the feelings. When they do attempt to speak, their mouth goes dry, the hands begin to sweat, the stomach churns and a feeling of nausea takes over. Very often they begin to tremble and the brain seems to stop working.

In this confused state they just ‘freeze’ and yet another negative experience is added to their memory banks, with the certain declaration of – “Never Again”.

First of all, we need to understand why we feel this nervousness. Let's face it, - we know we can speak; we’ve rehearsed and practiced well, the family thought the act or the tricks were great, or the speech was amusing, so there's really nothing to be afraid of there.

We've checked our 'flies', - so nothing to worry about in that respect. If you have prepared what you want to say and rehearsed your act well, then you should be 'home and dry' and it should be a breeze. I can assure you, if you have done the preparation, it will be a breeze, but you will still feel nervous.

During my entertaining days I suffered badly from nervousness prior to going on stage. As a matter of fact I still do to this day. My act always went down really well and I was inundated with bookings and re-bookings, so my confidence was always high. However, the nerves were always a nightmare prior to starting my act and I could never understand why.

An old experienced entertainer once told me that all good performers, whether in show business or sports performance or even academic or business performers, - feel nerves to varying degrees, and usually the higher standard of performance, - the greater the feeling of nerves and apprehension.

He explained that it's not the fear of not being able to perform, or of forgetting your lines, (or in the case of the sportsman, of not being able to run the race), it is actually the fear of not quite living up to your own high standards.

You see the good, conscientious performer sets his sights and standards as high as he possibly can, and so even as he improves, he keeps pushing his standards that little bit higher. You can therefore see why he will never free himself of these feelings of nerves and apprehension. It’s simply a concern that you will not live up to your own high standards.

So how do we overcome nerves? - Well, you don't. You simply learn to understand and nurture them as your friends and your guides, which help to ensure a really high standard of performance.

You could of course lower your sights, but this would surely lead to lowering your performance and eventually no performance at all. Yet, this is what most people do. They lower the standard of their performance, taking on only the easy stuff, the things they are confident they can do.

However, lowering the standard of your performance is not the way. It may just help decrease nerves, but it will eventually kill your performance completely. You see, when speakers or entertainers get a bad reception or "die", as we say, they very often never perform again. “Finished!”

Garmin Nuvi GPS - Buyers Guide

Many people will tell you that Garmin Nuvi GPS devices are the best in the world and the best devices you will find on the market. You will find that there is no other company that will be able to provide you with the features and the quality the way Garmin does. There is a lot of good to say about Garmin, but at the same time there are many Garmin Nuve GPS products that are so hard to figure out, you need to have some kind of PhD. The truth about all this when it comes to this type of GPS is that all of the models are great choices, and you will find that all of the products are separated from each other by the features that are included in the device. When you go for the best Garmin Nuvi GPS, you basically want to look at the upgrades that you will be interested in. Some of the upgrades could include Bluetooth capabilities, intensive maps, voice directions and speech recognition. One thing you must keep in mind when standing there facing all these Garmin products: the sleeker, the lighter and the thinner the device, the bigger the price tag.

If you are standing there and are so confused as to what device to go with, just do the simplest thing anyone would do in your situation. That does not include walking out the shop and calling it a day. Instead, read reviews. Look at a specific Garmin Nuvi GPS - the 700 series. This is not the cheapest out there, and you should not look at this model as an expensive one. Rather look at this Garmin Nuvi GPS as a comparable device to other high-end navigation systems. You will notice that all Garmin Nuvi GPS devices are sleek and wide and have a sunlight-readable screen. These models also have other features like emergency locator and route planning. Other features include an MP3 player, pre-loaded maps of North America and Europe, Bluetooth compatibility, and local and custom POI (points-of-interest).

These are just some of the features that you will be able to find inside the Garmin Nuvi GPS products. The one difference between the 700 series and the 800 series is the advanced-speech recognition functions. You will get more hands-free control using the 700 series, but it is the Garmin Nuvi GPS 800 series that allows you to have complete hands-free use when you navigate your menus and also use the voice commands.

The Garmin Nuvi GPS 700 series and the 800 series are known as luxury GPS devices, but it is the Garmin 5000 that takes the title. This device dons a bigger screen and it is a device that is dedicated to the GPS unit. Make sure that the Garmin Nuvi GPS you decide to buy is the right one for you. Read reviews and read about the upside and downside of the specific unit. All you want is a device that is going to work for you and do the things that you want it to do.

Top Ten GPS Systems For 2009

There are so many variables in GPS Systems, it is a little overwhelming to sort out the best. Below you will find our choices for the top 10 GPS systems. Our selection was by no means scientific, but it is based on reviews from Amazon customers, best sellers listed by Amazon and Pricegrabber, and editors' picks from GPSMagazine.com.

In this group, only vehicle GPS receivers are listed, since, as a group, they are by far the largest segment of GPS systems sold. But don't worry, if you are an outdoors enthusiast, we do have listings for cycling, motorcyles, marine and wilderness units as well. You will find these listed in another article.

The manufacturer with the greatest number of models listed in the top ten is Garmin. Their volume of sales in the U.S. outranks all other manufacturers, therefore it is no surprise to see them listed so often. Keep in mind that models differ in both price and features, so do your homework and research a little further rather than just

pick form the top ten list when making your choice.

Let's get right into it. Here are our Top Ten GPS Picks for 2010:

1. Garmin Nuvi 765T-Best Overall GPS

This GPS receiver comes with real time traffic updates through MSN Direct, has all the features of the Nuvi 265T, and also allows you to use hands-free telephone calls with Bluetooth technology.

A budget GPS with some upscale features, this unit has "advanced lane guidance" which users say works well. Text-to-speech, 3-D junction view and IQ Routes make this system a winner at a budget price.

5. Magellan Maestro 4700

One of Magellans most recently developed GPS units, this receiver has some great features. You can manually exclude any roads you want to avoid, a rather unique feature,in addition to which you can customize the menu to display only the things you want to see. As with most upper end units, it has Bluetooth and traffic alerts and you get a list of upcoming turns well in advance.

6. Garmin Nuvi 855-Best Voice Command GPS Unit

The 855T gives you traffic updates through MSN Direct. The preloaded map feature has over 6 million points of interest, with City Navigator NT street maps for U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.

10. Garmin Nuvi 205W (tied with Tom Tom 140-S)

With an average consumer rating over 4 stars, and priced under $100, this Garmin GPS is popular and easy to use. It has preloaded maps for North America, along with millions of points of interests, and "HotFix" technology to quickly lock on to satellites.

A note about Garmin Nuvi 260, 360, 760 and other units. Although still available for sale, and reaping high marks previously, these units are being replaced by new series (ending in 5). The Nuvi Models 260, 360, 760 and others are listed on Garmin's website as "discontinued". As with any electronic gadget, the technology is ever-evolving. Our suggestion is to buy the latest models that are available, particularly when the manufacturer lists previous models as being discontinued.

Greenhouses - what do you grow in yours?

A garden is like a blank canvas, in which you can put almost anything you want. Whether it’s a place to sit, or things to eat, or just things to look at, you can put them in your garden – an outdoor space of your very own.

The most common thing to do with gardens is to fill them with plants, especially grass lawns, but also bushes and trees. It can be very rewarding to see what you planted only a few months ago starting to take root – and then, over the years, seeing it grow larger and thrive. While it takes care and attention, gardening is a hobby that many people feel they can get into.

Once you’re good enough to plant flowers and bushes and have them survive from season to season, you might even feel brave enough to start growing some of your own food. There are many crops you can grow even in a modestly-sized garden that will produce a lot of food and taste very good when you harvest them – root vegetables like potatoes and carrots work very well, as do berry bushes and apple trees. Food tastes much better when you know you’ve grown it yourself, and you save money too.

If you’re less green fingered than that, you can put other things in your garden apart from plants. It’s not difficult to build a brick barbecue, for example, get some chairs and invite people round. You might like to build a patio or decking where you can sit away from the garden itself but still outdoors. Various kinds of paths and rock features are also popular things to put in a garden, as are decorative ornaments like garden gnomes and model birds. If you’re a fan of fish and water life, you can even dig yourself a pond, and get various animals and plants to put in it.

Gregory Reyes on Court Room

I am writing this letter in regards to Greg Reyes. My name is Josh Miller and I am a 36 year old rancher from Wendell, Idaho. I was born and raised In Logan, Utah where my family still operate the business my great grandfather started in 1898.1 have a wildlife resources background and have spent 3 years working for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources as a bio-technician on the Great Salt Lake. I have also worked 12 seasons at the Bear River Club Company also on the G. S. L. and 10 seasons in Alaska, both as a wildlife guide.

I was introduced to Greg Reyes in June of 2001 in Alaska. Greg was the new owner of a wilderness lodge where I was already employed. The first thing Greg did was sit down with all of the lodge employees and ask, "What can we do to make things better?". He listened and cared about everyone's opinion and suggestions. He believed in the vision and trusted our decisions. The following summer we shut down the business during a already short season and renovated and improved the infrastructure of the lodge. We cut the amount of guests and increased the amount of employees. Everything we did cost him more money and produced more overhead. Greg trusted his new staff and their vision to preserve recreation in Katmai National Park. Today and for future generations people will be able to enjoy this untouched wilderness because of Greg's efforts.

One of my goals in life was to protect and manage land that is critical to the success of western wildlife and their habitat. Many lands in the west are purchased by developers and critical habitat is being destroyed in the process. After many discussions with Greg, I realized we shared the same love of the outdoors. I presented him a plan to find and purchase critical land in Idaho that is in jeopardy of being lost to developers. Greg trusted that I would use my knowledge and experience to identify possible locations. In 2004, Greg purchased hundreds of acres along the Snake River and was able to preserve the land in between Idaho's treasured Thousand Springs Preserve and Box canyon Preserve. Thousands of people are benefitting from the committement Greg has made by saving one of the states last natural gems. Greg's busy schedule only enabled him to do a 30 minute initial tour of the property. He trusted my judgement and ability to acquire the property and take care of all the details to ensure that this property was preserved.

Last spring my 65 year old mother died of breast cancer. It was the hardest thing I have ever experienced. Greg cared about my mother and asked about her every time we talked. He called me a lot during my darkest hours and helped me to be stay strong for the rest of my family. I have 3 compassionate voicemails from Greg I resave every 28 days on my phone, I play his messages when I have a bad day. Shortly after my mother's passing, my father was diagnosed with cancer and Greg immediately came to our aid. As with my mother, he always offered his support in any way he could. I attended over 3 weeks of Greg's trial this summer and everytime I spoke or saw Greg the first thing he would ask was, "How is your dad doing?". I have learned so many important life lessons from Greg. He truly cares amout me and my family and constantly shows it.

I have spent a lot of time with Greg and his family. Ali of his activities are scheduled around his children and wife. Whenever Greg is away from home I always hear him call his family and ask them how their day was and tell them that he loves them, he never forgets. He inspires me to start my own family. Greg loves his children and wife with all his heart. It is so obvious when you are around them. He speaks to them with respect and love and lives to be in their presence. Greg's children love and need their father. This situation Is hanging heavy on his children's hearts and I feel his family are being punished for a true injustice. Greg's children need their father and Penny needs her husband.

Greg has been a true positive influence on me and taught me many important life lessons. He always treats me with love and respect. I admire Greg's values and I know he is a man of honor. I am proud to be Greg's friend and I believe strongly in his innocence. Please take this letter into consideration when determining Greg's fate.

Review Of Hearing Aids - Siemens, Beltone, Phonak & Starkey

Hearing aids are available in analog or digital version. Analog hearing aids have been on the market for quite some time and are the least expensive type of hearing aids. Today, most hearing aids are digital as these provide better amplification, cleaner sound quality and can be programmed by computer. They are becoming more affordable as their prices have fallen.

There are 4 styles of hearing aids on the market. A hearing professional can help you determine the style that suits you best. The inexpensive behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid is fitted over the ear and rests behind it. A hearing aid that can sit just inside the ear is the in-the-ear (ITE). The in-the-canal (ITC) hearing aid fits slightly lower into the ear, so it is almost invisible. Lastly, the completely-in-the-ear-canal (CIC) hearing aid is fitted down the ear canal.

This review is focused on the 4 leading manufacturers of hearing aids. Siemens, Beltone, Starkey and Phonak are well known for producing superior quality hearing aids and excellent customer service.

Siemens Hearing Aids

Siemens has been the biggest hearing aid manufacturer in the US for over 125 years. Siemens hearing aids are designed to meet any hearing need and lifestyle. Beltone Hearing Aids

The company has a program called Belcare whereby they provide support for ongoing needs of customers who have purchased a Beltone hearing aid. Beltone hearing ptofessionals are trained to carry out a lifestyle assessment called Personalized Hearing Health Assessment (PHHA) on their customers. This program helps determine which hearing aid is right for individual hearing needs. Beltone hearing aids are available in 4 categories: basic, quality, advantage and premier. The three-channel Edge model is the least expensive. Beltone's mid-range model is the six-channel Mira. Beltone's state-of-the-art hearing aid is the twelve-channel Oria which has many advanced features.

Starkey Hearing Aids

The Essential of Good Psychic Readings

There are many questions that can arise in a person's life that cannot be easily answered with the standard methods of a physical reality. Matters of the spirit in particular require seeking into that area of our existence that is called the soul. For one who is not confident in their own intuitive abilities there is the option to acquire a psychic reading from a person more experienced with the psychic phenomena.

Finding a competent and, above all, real psychic is essential to gaining a useful understanding of these matters. Because psychic ability cannot be measured in a scientific way, finding the true psychics among the charlatans and confidence artists can be difficult. There are a few ways to determine if the results of a psychic reading can be trusted as useful information.

A true psychic will at once focus on your problem, not on how much they are hoping to be paid for their efforts. While the trappings of the mystic can help set a mood for accessing the psychic levels of understanding, they are not a necessary element. A psychic of real ability can divine as easily from a saucer of ink-stained water as an expensive crystal ball. Whether the psychic you choose seeks their answers from tarot cards, runestones or even a trance state meditation, the interpretation they offer should be clear and understandable. Someone who goes on about "signs and portents" or uses scare tactics to warn you about things only they can shield you from are most likely making it up as they go along.

Life is not always safe and a true psychic will tell you if the reading shows a danger in your future. However, the true psychic will attempt to direct you to an understanding of how you can correct the situation. A true psychic understands they are only a tool for you to improve your own life and condition by pointing out things you may have not seen for yourself. A true psychic reading should inform you of how a situation was created to bring you to this point and offer options for how to resolve it. No psychic should tell you what to do.

It is essential that a good psychic reading be presented in ideas and terminology that you can understand and can relate to. When you get a psychic reading, you should be allowed to ask questions about the results. A true psychic knows they are acting somewhat as a psychiatrist in that they help you use the information gleaned from the psychic reading to take control of your own actions regarding the matter at hand. A true psychic reader will help you do this in a way that makes you feel comfortable about your own decisions.

2. Make use of print ads, brochures, TV, radio and direct mail.

These are the more popular ways of marketing aiming to lead traffic to one's site. You may want to ask for signups for email services. Make your website more visible through these media. Offering free electronic newsletters and or rewards program can do well in making it easy to win the nod of your audiences, too.

3. Maximize your sales force.

Customer service associates can help a lot in making you benefit more from your email correspondence. Sales people with proper education on how to aid you in this endeavor can very well contribute to higher ROI. Techniques like offering account updates and special programs through email can easily land you those lists of valuable visitors.

4. Don't make your point of sale pointless.

Forms for signup located at cash registers and other high-traffic and highly visible spots can be very excellent venues for your business to collect email addresses. Notification of upcoming sales through their email addresses and names can coax them to supply you with the information you need.

5. Conferences or trade shows can work, too.

Giveaway offers or entries on sweepstakes are great for opt-in to volunteer their contact details.

These tactics should be applied with adequate caution and should focus on earning the trust of your opt-in list instead of simply collating data for your sole own benefit. Always make sure that the forms that you will use and other methods that you will employ will not necessitate too much fuss to subscribe.
